Good News: LZPU Students Win 1st Prizes in iCAN Guangxi Final

From News Center (Text by Hu Yibo, School of Electronic Information Engineering; Photo by Hu Yibo and Tian Junyuan, School of Electronic Information Engineering) Recently, the Guangxi Division Final of the 19th iCAN Innovation Contest (iCAN Contest) came to a successful conclusion at Guangxi University. In total, three projects from LZPU (all from the School of Electronic Information Engineering) were shortlisted for the final, and finally won two first prizes and one second prize. These achievements demonstrated the solid foundation and efforts of our students in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Notably, the project "Intelligent Machinery Center: Machine Tool Fault Predictive Diagnosis and Treatment Decision Platform", undertaken by Tian Junyuan and supervised by Mo Qiaoliang and Luo Yin, and the project "Intelligent Diagnosis: Automotive Core Component NVH Intelligent Diagnostic Platform", undertaken by Li Yeqi and supervised by Hu Yibo and Huang Yiman, won the first prize. The "Intelligent Machinery Center" project was shortlisted for the national competition due to its outstanding strengths. The project "Intelligent Solar Maintenance System: A New Paradigm for Solar-Driven Multi-Equipment Collaborative Maintenance and Management", undertaken by Pang Faling and supervised by Li Ruijuan and Wei Bingui, won the second prize.

The first Guangxi Division Final attracted 329 teams from 37 universities across the region. Following an online preliminary evaluation, 78 teams advanced to the final. The projects covered cutting-edge fields, including artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, smart agriculture, and cultural creativity, showcasing numerous innovative, practical, and promising entrepreneurial solutions. Competing with participants at all levels, from undergraduates to postgraduates and doctoral students, our students remained composed, had strong performance, and ultimately stood out among the best.

The iCAN Contest is a national A-level competition recognized by the Ministry of Education, with "Confidence, Persistence, Dream" as its spirit. After 18 years of development, the event has become a renowned and influential innovation and entrepreneurship competition for college students at home and abroad. Since 2010, the event has been funded by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as a key college student competition. In 2023, it was officially included in the National College Competitions Analysis Report catalog. Its authority and significance are integral to the evaluation system for innovation and entrepreneurship education in higher educational institutions.
